Volunteering

Volunteers contribute to the success of the Home. Volunteers assist staff with delivering programs to our residents. Volunteers also bring their skills in areas such as administration and pastoral care. The Volunteer department offers a variety of carefully developed volunteer placements that provide valuable learning experiences and encourage the development of positive social relationships that benefit residents, volunteers, staff and the community.

We encourage community involvement and attempt to strengthen the association between the residents and the surrounding community. Relatives, friends, volunteers and children are especially welcome. Family pets are also welcome at Cedarvale Terrace Long Term Care Home, but all pets must have been properly vaccinated, housebroken and leashed. You should inform the Unit Supervisor or the Programs Manager upon your arrival.

Efforts are made to involve residents in the local community, by both inviting community groups, schools, centers and agencies to visit the facility and by planning community outings. Volunteers are always needed to help organize programs and provide individual services.

You may wish to join local support groups such as the Alzheimer's Society, Parkinson's Society, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Huntington's Society, and Heart and Stroke Foundation. Contact our Social Services Worker for more information.
